Earlier this week on Facebook we debuted our new logo and are so thankful for all the positive response we have gotten!  Changing up our logo and website has been exciting and refreshing, and while it’s been a lot of work (we went through many different logos before finding “the one”) we are happy that we are now sharing it all with you.   We also have a brand new website as well as a new blog header (see above!).

*Thank you* also to everyone who expressed their excitement about the new products and changes that we are making.   We brought in over 25 new lines and now have everything from cute baby shower gifts, to scarves, candles, jewelry, party accessories and more!  We are going to be highlighting some of our new products in the coming weeks so that you can get a feel for what we now carry!

It has been a very busy Spring for us over at The Wedding Cottage and we have some super *super* exciting news that we are so happy to share – At The Wedding Cottage you will now find more than just wedding gifts!  We have expanded and now have a new baby and gift line that I hope you will all love!  In addition next week we are debuting our new logo, new look, and new website! And to top it off – a couple of months ago we moved our shop next door into the cutest location… Whew, it has been a very busy Spring!

For all those Brides out there, don’t worry because we still have our fantastic selection of wedding accessories and invitations that we are known for.  We just realized that it was time to carry more than just wedding gifts and accessories so that we could see our wonderful customers long after they tie the knot.  By becoming a full gift shop we hope to build long-term relationships with our Brides, Moms, Bridesmaids, Friends… by now having a great selection of gifts for a baby, birthday, housewarming party, anniversary, or “just because”!

We are planning an Open House Event on Saturday, June 9th to celebrate and “show off”  our new exciting changes – stay tuned for more details!!

Know someone who deserves the wedding of their dreams?  The Abernethy Center is giving away a dream wedding to a couple who due to military, financial, or medical reasons isn’t able to have the wedding they truly deserve.  Below is the information on how to enter the giveaway – submissions are due on December 16th, so don’t wait too long!  The Wedding Cottage has partnered up with The Abernethy Center and we will be giving away the invitations!

The Abernethy Center Dream Chapel Wedding Giveaway

In conjunction with the completion of the new Abernethy Chapel, coming spring 2012, Abernethy Center and its vendors / sponsors are partnering together to give one deserving couple Abernethy Center’s Dream Chapel Wedding for up to 150 guests on April 27, 2012. Please see our Giveaway Inclusions page to view all of the amazing aspects of this dream wedding.

WHO IS ELEGIBLE? All couples who are currently engaged and 21 years of age or older. You must be a legal US resident and live in Oregon or Southwest Washington. You must be willing to get married on a date selected by Abernethy Center at the Abernethy Chapel in Oregon City, Oregon with a reception to follow in the Abernethy Ballroom. You must be willing to follow the rules of this giveaway. You must be willing and able to participate in meetings, photos shoots, press and other related promotional events surrounding this giveaway. You must have a unique and compelling story or situation that is holding you back from being able to have the wedding of your dreams. (ie: military, family emergency, financial difficulties). We must be able to verify your story with more than one source. Currently contracted Abernethy Center clients are not elegible.

HOW DO YOU SUBMIT YOUR STORY? Fill out the following Application Form. We will need some details, including a short essay and a photo. We will begin accepting submissions on October 15th, 2011 and all submissions must be turned in by December 16th, 2011.

HOW IS THE WINNER SELECTED? Abernethy Center and the vendors/sponsors who are participating will determine the three couples who will be the finalists to win the Abernethy Chapel Wedding. The finalists will be announced on December 19th, 2011. Once the finalists are selected, a public voting campaign will kick-off and your family, friends and the worldwide web will help determine the couple who will win. The voting will take place on our website and will be open for one week: From January 9th through the 13th. Voters will be allowed one vote. The winning couple will be announced on January 16, 2012. The date for the wedding is set for April 27th, 2012.

I had such a great time meeting lots of Brides, Grooms and their guests at the Bravo! Wedding Affair this weekend.  The Embassy Suites Downtown Hotel was transformed into a wedding wonderland!  The decorations were inspiring, the flowers were gorgeous, and the food I might add was quite tasty!  Every November and February Bravo! Publications plans a wedding show, and this one definitely did not disappoint.  With so much to look at and so many vendors to visit, it would make any Bride-to-be get excited about her big day. 

At our booth I brought lots of fun goodies and invitations to show off.  It is always hard for me to decide what to bring, and I always end up packing too much!  I really enjoyed getting the chance to meet so many engaged couples, and I hope to have the opportunity to see them again and welcome them to the store!

It was great to have the chance to show off our new Christmas Ornaments!

If you have turned on the news in the last few days, I am sure you have heard that Prince William is engaged to the beautiful Kate Middleton.  When I hear news like this I know I am in the right business, because I can’t contain my excitment about the fact that a Royal Wedding will occur sometime next year.  People are calling this “ the wedding of the century”  and that a billion people will likely tune in to watch the event!

 I am sure wedding dress designers all over the world are hoping for a call from Kate asking to design her dress.  I am sure the dress will be spectacular and will look absolutely beautiful on her.  Since Kate is always so poised and polished I can imagine her in something like this…

Oh, and of course she would need a gorgeous hat to go with her dress, because what would a British wedding be without fabulous hats!?
